What is a companion caregiver?

Companion caregivers–our Papa Pals–offer companionship and support to older adults, seniors and families. Papa Pals visit individuals and families–our Papa Members–in their homes.

What is a visit?

As a Papa Pal, you can choose the type of visit you do. Some Papa Pals lend a hand around the house and help with errands, light housekeeping or gardening. Others offer company on a walk around the neighborhood or provide car rides to and from appointments. All enjoy catching up and having fun conversations. It’s a great job for friendly people.

Do Papa Pals provide personal or medical care?

No, Papa Pals don’t provide personal care, medical care or hands-on care. It’s a non-medical role.

What is the payment schedule?

Papa sends payments directly to your bank account using a payment service called Tipalti. There are no transaction fees. Papa pays you within 2 business days after completing a visit.

What is the hourly rate to work as a companion and caregiver?

Papa Pals earn an hourly base rate, plus bonuses. With bonuses, many Papa Pals earn $20 an hour or more. Plus, Papa reimburses you for any car rides (transportation visits) you provide..

Does Papa pay for transportation visit mileage?

Yes, Papa pays for your transportation visit mileage.

How does scheduling work?

You can choose when you work and how often. Shifts, or visits, are often between 2 and 4 hours. You can browse available visits in the Papa Pal App and select the visits that work best for you. It's easy to schedule visits up to 2 weeks in advance or at the last minute. There are no long-term commitments. 

How do I apply to work as a companion and caregiver?

Getting started is easy. You’ll need an ID like a driver’s license, state ID card or password. You’ll also need a copy of your car insurance if you plan to provide transportation. 

Then, Papa runs a background check. As soon as you’re cleared, you can move onto the next step and schedule your first visit. (At first, you may not see many visits in your area. If this happens, keep checking the app. Papa posts new visits daily.)
