Embracing a diverse community
Understanding and respecting diversity is essential for fostering meaningful connections and ensuring a welcoming environment for Papa Pals. To support a culture of respect and understanding, here are some practical tips for engaging with all Pals, regardless of their age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or cultural background:
- Recognize and respect the diversity within cultures. Not all individuals from the same cultural background share the same beliefs or values.
- Don’t make assumptions based on cultural background. Every individual is a mosaic of their experiences, with culture being just one piece of the puzzle. Approach each person as an individual, with their own unique identity and perspective.
- Every interaction is an opportunity to demonstrate respect. Be mindful of how your words and actions may be perceived. Humor and sarcasm, while well-intentioned, can sometimes be misunderstood. If you're unsure about something a Papa Pal has said, don't hesitate to ask for clarification.
Papa Pals take it and make it personal—supporting millions of members with companionship, help around the house, shopping, transportation, and more. Meet the real people that make it all happen.
